Development Holding Company (DHC) has completed the acquisition of Massaleh Investment Company, marking a significant step in the group’s long-term expansion strategy and strengthening its position as a diversified investment company in Kuwait.
The transaction was announced during a press conference attended by representatives from leading media organizations, where company executives outlined the strategic importance of the acquisition and its role in supporting the group’s future growth plans.
Massaleh Becomes DHC’s Financial Investment Arm
Talal Al Ajmi, Chief Executive Officer of Development Holding Company, said the acquisition reflects the group’s confidence in Kuwait’s investment environment while reinforcing its strategy of building sustainable businesses that generate long-term value.
“This acquisition represents more than a strategic investment—it marks the beginning of a new phase for Development Holding. Massaleh Investment Company will serve as the Group’s financial investment arm, enabling us to diversify our investment platform while capitalizing on more than 16 years of experience across financial markets and regulated industries.”
Al Ajmi added that the private sector has an essential role to play in delivering the objectives of New Kuwait Vision 2035 through investment, innovation, and economic diversification.
Focus on Long-Term Investment Opportunities
Mohammed Al Jouan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Massaleh Investment Company, described the transaction as an important milestone for both organizations.
He said Kuwait’s improving regulatory framework and strengthening economic indicators have created an increasingly attractive environment for investment.
“The next chapter will focus on identifying quality investment opportunities, developing innovative business models, and creating sustainable value beyond traditional investment activities.”
Al Jouan also acknowledged the ongoing efforts of the Capital Markets Authority and the Central Bank of Kuwait in promoting a transparent and well-regulated financial market.
Strengthening Governance and Strategic Partnerships
Othman Al Awadhi, General Manager of Development Holding Company, said the acquisition marks a new chapter in the group’s investment strategy, emphasizing the importance of attracting high-quality investment opportunities while building partnerships based on governance, trust, and institutional excellence.
Mohannad Youssef, Director of Media & Public Relations, said the long-term success of an acquisition should be measured by the value it creates after completion rather than the size of the transaction itself.
“Continuing to invest and grow is the strongest response to today’s economic challenges. This acquisition reinforces Development Holding’s commitment to building sustainable businesses that contribute to Kuwait’s private sector and create long-term value for the national economy.”
Expanding a Diversified Business Portfolio
Development Holding Company operates across a diversified portfolio spanning financial services, retail, food and beverage, perfumery, and technology.
Its portfolio includes brands such as VI Markets, The Fragrance Kitchen (TFK), 20 Grams Specialty Coffee, and Canteen Kuwait.
With the addition of Massaleh Investment Company, the group aims to further strengthen its investment capabilities while supporting sustainable growth and contributing to Kuwait’s long-term economic ambitions under New Kuwait Vision 2035.
Why It Matters
The acquisition reflects a broader trend among Gulf investment groups to diversify beyond traditional sectors by combining operational businesses with dedicated financial investment platforms. As Kuwait advances its Vision 2035 agenda, transactions such as this highlight the growing role of the private sector in driving economic diversification, attracting investment, and building resilient, long-term enterprises.
