Abu Dhabi has entered the world’s top 50 emerging startup ecosystems after its ecosystem value increased by 3,057% to reach US$73.4 billion, according to the 2026 Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER) published by Startup Genome and the Global Entrepreneurship Network.
The emirate was ranked within the #41-50 category globally, improving from the #51-60 bracket recorded in the previous edition of the report and marking one of Abu Dhabi’s strongest advances in the annual rankings to date.
Abu Dhabi Moves Into The Global Top 50
The report, unveiled during VivaTech Paris 2026, analyzed data from more than 5.5 million companies across over 350 startup ecosystems worldwide.
According to Startup Genome, Abu Dhabi generated US$73.4 billion in ecosystem value between July 2023 and December 2025. Ecosystem value measures economic impact through startup valuations and successful exits.
The latest figures represent a 3,057% increase compared with the 2018-2020 period, highlighting the speed of growth across the emirate’s startup and innovation landscape.
Strong Performance Across Key Startup Metrics
Abu Dhabi also recorded strong regional rankings across several categories within the Middle East and North Africa startup ecosystem.
The emirate ranked second in MENA for AI-Native Cluster, reflecting the scale and concentration of artificial intelligence startups operating within the ecosystem.
Abu Dhabi placed fourth regionally in both R&D Engine, which measures research output and patent activity, and Performance, which evaluates startup value creation through funding and exits.
The ecosystem also ranked fifth in MENA for both Funding Momentum and Talent Strength, while placing among the region’s top 15 ecosystems for Funding Runway and Affordable Talent.
AI, FinTech And Digital Assets Drive Growth
The report highlighted strong momentum across sectors including artificial intelligence, FinTech, ClimateTech, Web3 and digital assets.
Several recent initiatives have contributed to Abu Dhabi’s growth trajectory, including the expansion of ADGM’s virtual asset regulatory framework, Hub71’s specialist ecosystem programs and national artificial intelligence infrastructure investments.
The report also pointed to major projects such as G42’s 200MW Stargate UAE AI campus and the partnership between NVIDIA and the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) to establish the Middle East’s first NVIDIA AI Technology Center.
According to Hub71, more than 80% of startups within its latest cohort are currently developing AI-driven products and services.

Startup Genome highlighted Abu Dhabi as one of the region’s fastest-growing startup ecosystems and pointed to its coordinated ecosystem-building strategy as a key differentiator.
The report noted that long-term institutional backing, strategic investment and collaboration between public and private stakeholders have helped accelerate ecosystem maturity across multiple sectors.
