Ford Otosan has completed the acquisition of Koç Finansman A.Ş. following the receipt of all required regulatory approvals and the fulfillment of closing conditions, marking a significant step in the company’s strategy to integrate financing more deeply into the automotive customer journey.
The transaction, first announced publicly on March 13, 2026, resulted in Ford Otosan acquiring all shares held by Koç Group entities, including a 50% stake from Koç Holding, a 47% stake from Arçelik and the remaining 3% held by other Koç Group companies. The payment for the share transfer was completed in cash and in full at closing.
Financing becomes a core component of the customer journey
Koçfinans is widely recognized in Türkiye’s financing sector for its technological capabilities, data-driven expertise and multi-brand portfolio structure. The company has also served for many years as the largest retail financing partner for Ford and Ford Trucks vehicles in Türkiye.
By bringing Koçfinans into its corporate structure, Ford Otosan aims to strengthen its value proposition for customers and dealers while expanding its role across the automotive value chain beyond manufacturing and distribution.
Ford Finans brand to support integrated mobility services
Koç Finansman A.Ş. will retain its existing legal structure, its Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) license and its multi-brand operating model following the acquisition.
Financing activities related to Ford and Ford Trucks products will be carried out under the new Ford Finans brand and integrated more closely with Ford Otosan’s broader mobility ecosystem.
The company aims to provide customers with a more seamless financing experience covering the entire ownership lifecycle, from vehicle purchase and financing decisions to after-sales services and long-term ownership costs.
Meanwhile, Koçfinans will continue to operate its financing and lending activities for other automotive brands under the existing Koçfinans brand.
Competition increasingly extends beyond vehicle manufacturing
Commenting on the transaction, Ford Otosan General Manager Güven Özyurt said competition in the automotive sector is increasingly defined by the ability to manage the entire customer journey rather than simply producing and selling vehicles.
“Today, competition in automotive is no longer limited to producing the right vehicle or delivering it to customers. The entire journey — from vehicle access and financing decisions to after-sales services, digital solutions and total cost of ownership management — has become part of a single value proposition.
We therefore view Koçfinans joining Ford Otosan not merely as an acquisition but as a strategic step that enables us to offer a more holistic experience to our customers and dealers. By making financing a more integrated part of the customer journey, we aim to provide Ford and Ford Trucks customers with faster, more accessible and stronger solutions.”
Building on existing synergies
Koçfinans General Manager Y. Pınar Kitapçı said the new structure will combine Koçfinans’ expertise in financing, data analytics and digital technologies with Ford Otosan’s scale and global reach.
“We are entering a new era in which we will continue creating value for customers and business partners by combining our expertise in financial services, advanced analytics capabilities and technology infrastructure with Ford Otosan’s global strength.
While financing operations related to Ford brands will continue under the Ford Finans brand in a more integrated structure, Koçfinans will maintain its multi-brand service model and continue supporting its existing partners and customers across other brands.”
Kitapçı added that the company intends to leverage its expertise in digitalization and financial services to develop innovative solutions across the broader automotive ecosystem.
Why it matters
Automotive manufacturers globally are increasingly seeking greater control over financing, subscriptions, insurance and digital services as vehicles become part of broader mobility ecosystems. Integrating financing directly into the customer journey allows manufacturers to improve customer retention, increase service revenues and create more seamless ownership experiences.
For Ford Otosan, the acquisition strengthens its position beyond manufacturing and distribution by expanding its capabilities across financing and mobility services, reflecting a wider industry shift toward vertically integrated automotive ecosystems.
