The Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival (SEF) will return for its landmark 10th anniversary edition on January 30-31, 2027, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa).
The festival will take place at the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SPARK), bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, creatives and industry leaders from around the world to explore the ideas and industries shaping the future economy.
A Decade of Entrepreneurship and Ecosystem Building
Organised by Sheraa, SEF has grown significantly since its launch in 2016, evolving into one of the Middle East’s leading entrepreneurship platforms focused on fostering collaboration, investment opportunities and cross-sector partnerships.
Over the years, the festival has become an important meeting point for founders, government leaders, investors and mentors, creating connections that continue long after the event concludes.
SEF has also played a role in supporting startups as they seek access to new markets, funding opportunities and strategic partnerships across the region and beyond.
Global Entrepreneurs and Industry Leaders Have Taken the Stage
Previous editions of SEF have welcomed internationally recognised speakers from business, technology, sports and personal development.
Notable participants have included entrepreneur Mohamed Alabbar, Virgin Group founder Richard Branson, four-time Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel, UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, author Lewis Howes and Mindvalley founder Vishen Lakhiani.
The participation of global figures has helped establish the festival as a platform for conversations around entrepreneurship, technology, creativity and human potential.
More Than 60,000 Changemakers Connected Through SEF
According to Sheraa, the festival has welcomed more than 60,000 participants and featured over 1,400 speakers since its inception.
Across its first nine editions, SEF has also hosted more than 500 startups, partnered with over 100 strategic organisations, organised more than 450 sessions and activities, and collaborated with over 195 retail and food and beverage partners.
These collaborations have contributed to the creation of new partnerships, business opportunities and investment conversations across the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
SEF 2027 to Focus on Future Industries
The upcoming edition will explore the trends shaping the future economy, with discussions expected to focus on innovation, technology, investment, sustainability, creative industries and entrepreneurship’s role in long-term economic growth.
SEF 2027 aims to continue building connections between founders, investors, policymakers and corporate leaders while supporting the development of the UAE’s wider startup ecosystem.
Sheraa Highlights the Festival’s Long-Term Impact
H.E. Najla Al Midfa, Vice Chairperson of Sheraa, described the tenth anniversary as a reflection of Sharjah’s long-standing belief in the power of entrepreneurship to create opportunities and drive progress.
Meanwhile, H.E. Sara Abdelaziz Al Nuaimi, Chief Executive Officer of Sheraa, said the growth of the festival mirrors the expansion of entrepreneurship across the UAE and the wider region, as well as the increasing importance of platforms that strengthen innovation ecosystems.
She added that SEF 2027 will focus on exploring the opportunities expected to define the next decade of entrepreneurship and emerging industries.
Why It Matters
The continued growth of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival reflects the UAE’s emergence as one of the region’s leading startup ecosystems. As governments increasingly focus on innovation, entrepreneurship and knowledge-based industries, platforms such as SEF play an important role in connecting founders with capital, talent and opportunities while helping shape the future direction of regional economic development.
