Dubai Taxi Company PJSC (DTC), Dubai’s largest mobility solutions provider, has completed its acquisition of National Taxi LLC following receipt of all required regulatory approvals, marking a significant milestone in the company’s long-term expansion strategy.

The transaction received approvals from both Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), allowing DTC to finalize what it describes as the first transformational acquisition since its public listing.

The acquisition forms a central component of DTC’s five-year growth strategy aimed at strengthening its leadership position in Dubai while expanding operations across the UAE’s major mobility markets.

DTC Becomes the UAE’s Largest Taxi Operator

Following completion of the transaction, Dubai Taxi Company’s combined fleet now exceeds 9,500 taxis, making it the largest taxi operator in the UAE by fleet size.

According to the company, the acquisition increases DTC’s market share in Dubai to approximately 59%, further consolidating its leadership position in the emirate’s transportation sector.

The transaction also marks DTC’s entry into Abu Dhabi’s taxi market, where the company expects to establish an estimated market share of approximately 12%.

The expanded footprint creates a multi-emirate mobility platform spanning Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Al Ain, significantly increasing the company’s geographic reach and operational scale.

A Strategic Milestone Following DTC’s IPO

Commenting on the transaction, Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Taxi Company, described the acquisition as a major milestone in the company’s evolution following its public market debut.

“The successful completion of the acquisition of National Taxi is the first transformational acquisition since our IPO and an important moment in our long-term growth strategy. National Taxi strengthens our leadership position in Dubai, establishes a meaningful presence in Abu Dhabi and creates a leading multi-emirate mobility platform with greater scale and reach.”

“Our focus now turns to integrating National Taxi into the DTC Group and delivering the substantial strategic and financial benefits of the transaction to create long-term value for our shareholders,” Alfalasi added.

AED1.45 Billion Transaction Value

The final purchase consideration amounted to AED1.45 billion following the agreed locked-box adjustment mechanism outlined in the sale and purchase agreement.

For the financial year ending July 2025, National Taxi generated revenue of AED774 million and reported EBITDA of AED183 million, highlighting the scale and profitability of the business being integrated into DTC’s operations.

The company operated a fleet of more than 2,700 vehicles across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Al Ain during the reporting period.

National Taxi Brings Scale and Sustainability Credentials

Established in 2000, National Taxi holds operating concessions from both Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority and Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre, making it one of the country’s largest independent taxi operators.

The company currently operates approximately 2,534 licensed taxi plates and employs more than 5,100 driver partners across its operations.

During the financial year ended July 2025, National Taxi completed approximately 25.4 million passenger trips.

Notably, 77% of the company’s fleet consists of electric or hybrid vehicles, aligning with broader sustainability and transport electrification initiatives being pursued across the UAE.

National Taxi services are accessible through both traditional street hailing and digital mobility platforms including Bolt, Careem Hala, Uber, Yango, and Zed.

Operational Synergies Expected

Dubai Taxi Company expects the acquisition to contribute positively to earnings from the first full year of ownership, with additional value expected to be generated through operational efficiencies and integration synergies.

The transaction reflects a broader trend of consolidation within the regional mobility sector as operators seek greater scale, geographic diversification, and stronger digital capabilities to meet evolving consumer demand and urban mobility requirements.

Why It Matters

DTC’s acquisition of National Taxi significantly reshapes the UAE’s taxi and mobility landscape by creating the country’s largest taxi operator with a presence across multiple emirates. The move strengthens DTC’s competitive position, expands its exposure to high-growth urban markets, and supports its strategy of building a diversified, technology-enabled mobility platform across the UAE.
