Ziraat Katılım has listed two sukuk issuances totaling US$150 million on the Vienna Stock Exchange (Wiener Börse), marking the first sukuk listing by a Turkish participation bank on the Austrian exchange.

The issuances were completed under the bank’s US$1.5 billion Medium Term Note (MTN) Program, established to expand access to international investors and diversify long-term funding sources.

Expanding Access to International Capital Markets

The transaction consists of two separate three-year sukuk issuances with a combined value of US$150 million. By listing the securities on the Vienna Stock Exchange, Ziraat Katılım has broadened its international investor reach while securing long-term funding at competitive costs.

The bank said the listing also contributes to Türkiye’s broader objective of attracting international capital and strengthening access to global financial markets.

A Milestone for Turkish Participation Banking

According to the bank, the transaction represents the first sukuk listing by a Turkish participation bank on the Vienna Stock Exchange, highlighting the growing international recognition of Türkiye’s Islamic finance sector.

Ziraat Katılım currently has approximately US$2 billion in sukuk outstanding across international capital markets. The latest issuance further diversifies the bank’s external funding sources while supporting its long-term growth strategy.

Vienna Stock Exchange Gong Ceremony

To commemorate the listing, the Vienna Stock Exchange organized a Wiener Börse Gong Ceremony attended by international investors, financial institutions, and capital market representatives.

The event underscored Ziraat Katılım’s expanding presence in global financial markets and reinforced its visibility among international investors.

Supporting Sustainable Growth

Ziraat Katılım Chief Executive Officer Metin Özdemir described international capital market transactions as a key component of the bank’s sustainable growth strategy.

“We are pleased to achieve the first sukuk listing by a Turkish participation bank on the Vienna Stock Exchange. Since becoming Türkiye’s first state-owned participation bank, we have built a strong market position over the past decade while expanding our global investor base through sukuk issuances and other international funding transactions. We believe this milestone will become an important chapter in Ziraat Katılım’s growth story.”

Özdemir added that the bank remains committed to supporting the real economy through sustainable participation finance while continuing its growth both domestically and internationally.

Why It Matters

The Vienna Stock Exchange listing represents an important milestone for Türkiye’s participation banking sector by expanding the international visibility of Turkish sukuk. As global demand for Shariah-compliant investment products continues to grow, broader access to international capital markets strengthens funding diversification while reinforcing Türkiye’s position in the global Islamic finance ecosystem.
